PART-TIME FENCING INSTRUCTOR

Halim Şener was born in 1965 in Ankara, where he completed his primary, secondary and high school education. He was admitted to 19 Mayıs Youth and Sports Academy in 1983. He completed his postgraduate studies in 1995 at Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences at the Institute of Training and Movement Science. 

Şener played the fencing sport between 1974-94, and won several national and international ranks. He represented the Turkish National Fencing Team as a fence player 57 times in international championships. Internationally, he worked as a fencing coach in France between 1978-79, and he served as an International Fencing Referee in many World and European Championship organizations.

Şener served as the Vice President for Turkish Fencing Federation between 2001-07, and an Executive Committee Member for the European Fencing Confederation between 2005-09. 

Before joining Bilkent University Theatre Department as a fencing teacher, he taught fencing courses at Bilkent University Sports Center, and supervised the university fencing team. He also serves an academic instructor at Ankara University Department of Sports Sciences since 1984.
