CEREN ÖZCAN

PART-TIME CORE-CIRRICULUM INSTRUCTOR

Ceren Özcan was born in 1987 in İstanbul. She graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of Sociology in 2010. Between 2005 and 2013, she participated in the theatrical activities of METU Players as an actor, director and instructor. She completed her Master’s degree at Ankara University, Theatre Theories, Criticism and Dramaturgy program in 2014. Her Master’s thesis was published in 2018 by Mitos-Boyut as “Narrative in Contemporary Theatre: A Study on Tiyatrotem”.Aiming to combine theory and practice in her research, she defines herself both as a theatre scholar and a practitioner. 

She gave lectures and workshops on acting, acting theories, text-analysis, history of theatre, theatre theories, narration in contemporary theatre and performance at private institutions, as well as university departments. She worked in several productions as an actor, dramaturg, and director. In addition to her academic and literary translations, she has reviews and academic articles published in theatre and performance journals.
She is continuing her doctoral studies at Ankara University Theatre Department and currently working as a part-time lecturer at Bilkent University Theatre Department. She is also a member of ASSITEJ Turkey.
