PART-TIME MOVEMENT INSTRUCTOR
Korhan Başaran is an internationally renowned dancer / choreographer who holds a BA from Bilkent University’s theater department and an MBA in art management from Yeditepe University, he is the artistic director of his project based Company RAu which operates in New York and Istanbul. After having completed a 10 year of a professional career in Turkey, upon moving to NYC ’08, he received a scholarship from the Cunningham Studio.
He had the pleasure to learn from the iconic artist -Merce Cunnigham- and dance with the Repertory Group of the Cunningham Company. He has studied and danced with various choreographers and directors over the years in Istanbul and New York. Bringing out his voice has been his passion since the beginning. His works have been commissioned by DMUSA, Nimbus Dance Works, Mari Meade DC, Project 44, Boston Conservatory at Berklee in the US and MDT, Akbank Sanat, Tatbikat Sahnesi in Turkey. In collaboration with Prometheus Dance of Boston, MA he has premiered “Project RAu” in the Spring of 2019. He is currently performing his solo dance theater work ‘X’ -created in collaboration with visual design artist Ataman Girişken- inspired from the solitude of Peter Abelard.
