HALUK YÜCE

PART-TIME ACTING INSTRUCTOR

Haluk Yüce, who started his theater life in 1975, has been working in the field of puppetry and Karagöz since 1982. 

Yüce founded his company Theater TEMPO in 1984, and he completed his MFA in puppet theater at Connecticut College, USA in 1990. After returning to Turkey, Yüce produced various puppet projects for children for Turkish Radio and Television (TRT).

Haluk Yüce was granted an Intangible Cultural Heritage Bearer card by the Turkısh Ministry of Culture and Tourism for his contribution to the art of Karagöz, which is accepted as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Yüce also serves as a member of the Traditional Theater and Karagöz Expertise commission at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. 

During his long career as a a puppet and theatre artist, Yüce staged around 30 puppet plays for children with his company, and also produced puppet plays for young people and adults. Recipient of many awards for his work, Yüce continues to perform plays and participate in festivals in various theaters in Turkey and abroad. He  conducts workshops  and seminars for children, youth, adults and teachers.

Yüce currently lectures in the fields of Turkish theatre, traditional theatre, and puppet theatre at Ankara University, and Bilkent University Department of Theatre.
