DOĞU YAŞAR AKAL

Doğu Yaşar Akal is one of the well-known theater directors in Turkey. He started his theatrical adventure at Ted Ankara College and continued at Bilkent University, majoring in Theatre Directing. After graduating from this faculty in 2009, he completed his Master’s degree in Film and Drama at Kadir Has University as an assistant student. Since 2013, he has been directing plays in many universities while continuing his professional career. AST, Ankara State Theatre, Diyarbakır State Theatre, Tiyato BeReZe, Nilüfer City Theatre, Das Das, BKM, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Theatre are some of the theaters where he has directed plays. In 2016, after directing the play “Macbeth A Nightmare for Two” for BeReZe Theatre, he started working with Bremer Shakespeare Company, directing the plays “Coriolanus” and “The Comedy of Errors” and started his international theater directing career. In addition to directing, he also works as a screenwriter. His first feature film script DAHA received many national and international awards. The series ‘KASABA’, which he wrote for Netflix, will be released internationally on the platform in the last months of 2025.
